Hey, I'm Kellen.

Hi, I'm Kellen.

We're more than your average athletic/outdoor apparel company.

Before WIld South existed, I Spent 12 years in law enforcement as a K9 handler and my wife (Jenn) served as a Navy nurse. Between the two of us, we've seen what it means to really show up, serve others, and that's just how we live.

Outside of work, we've always had a passion for fitness, the outdoors, and obviously dogs. Below I dive a little deeper into things, but we wanted to build a brand that actually reflected all of that, with an overall mission of outfitting working K9's with ballistic vests.

So we built it ourselves. Wild South was born out of that passion, and we couldn't be more grateful you found us.

Our Mission

Duke wasn't just my K9 partner, he was my right hand man for years on the job. We ran calls together, trained together, and trusted each other in situations most people will never experience. He gave everything he had, every single time.

In 2016, a K9 from my unit was shot and killed in the line of duty. At the time, our dogs did not wer ballistic vests.  Our city did not deem them necessary at the time. It hit our whole department hard. Shortly after, A gentleman who lost multiple dogs in comat during his time serving with Naval Special Warfare founded Spikes K9 fund with a mission to outfit K9's with ballistic vests. This is what it looks like when people show up for the ones who can't speak up for themselves.

Duke was one of the first K9's to recieve a vest from Spikes K9 fund in 2016. Duke is retired now. He lives his best life, sleeps on the couch, and still thinks he runs the house... and honestly, he does. But I've never forgotten that moment.

That's where "Ready When It Counts" comes from. It's not a marketing line. It's the standard Duke lived by every single day he wore that badge. It's the standard we try to hold ourselves to. In the gear we make and the brand we built. A portion of every sale is now donated to Spike's K9 Fund to outfit K9's across the country.

He earned his rest. We're still working.

K9's are the unsung heros of service and sacrifice.

These dogs don't volunteer for this job.

It's our job to make sure they are provided with the necessary equipment to carry out their missions safely.
